Hervé Di Rosa, born in Sète (France) in 1959, lives and works in Paris, Mexico and many other places around the world, as he travels as an artist.

After studying at the École nationale supérieure des arts décoratifs, he presented his first Paris exhibition, Finir en beauté, in 1981. That same year, along with Richard Di Rosa, François Boisrond, Rémi Blanchard and Robert Combas, he co-founded the Figuration Libre movement, named by the artist Ben. This movement, born in the 1980s, embodies a revival of painting, drawing inspiration from comics, rock and graffiti. Di Rosa’s work quickly won international acclaim, with exhibitions in Amsterdam, Düsseldorf and at the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris.

Winner of the Fondation Médicis, Hervé Di Rosa spent two years in New York, where his work was presented by the Barbara Gladstone Gallery. He also took part in the 1985 Paris Biennale, for which he designed the poster. In 1989, he began his first collaboration with local craftsmen, producing two silkscreen prints in a Tunis workshop, marking the start of his exploration of popular arts and crafts around the world.

In 2000, he founded the Musée International des Arts Modestes in Sète, an innovative project celebrating popular and vernacular art forms.

From Tokyo to Miami Beach, via Santa Fe, Di Rosa travels the world, enriching his work with the cultures and modes of expression he encounters. His paintings, vibrant with color and tone, reflect this fusion of cultural influences. His travels have taken him to Miami, Mexico, Africa, Cuba, Israel, Vietnam, South Africa, Haiti and Tunisia, making him a true globe-trotting artist, nourished by the cultural diversity he encounters.

His work is characterized by a colorful, graphic style, often inspired by popular art, and claims to belong to an urban, mass culture. In 2023, a retrospective exhibition was held in Lisbon, bringing international recognition to his exceptional career.
