A graduate of the Beaux-arts d’Orléans, where he taught for five years before taking up a teaching post at the Beaux-arts de Blois, Alain Biet’s Grands Canons series uses watercolors and 1:1 scale to draw all the objects that “come home”, a kind of ethnographic flattening that can be selected and categorized and displayed according to the specific characteristics of the exhibition venues. This ever-expanding collection currently comprises some 8,000 drawings, and has been the subject of an experimental animated film produced by Girelle Production.
