Jean Simon Raclot
For his exhibition at the Eva Vautier Gallery, Jean Simon invites us to discover a series of paintings and drawings in mostly acidic tones, “chlorophyliptic” swarming with intense touches as if radiating, giving a fantastic accent to the whole of the proposals. Memorable images, related to the journey of the painter who has experienced the withdrawal and solitude to bring us these paintings marked by a sweet melancholy fluorinated.
At a time when climate change is at the heart of the news, this chromatic disruption offers a powerful dreamlike filter evoking other times, other places.
Let’s think of the landscapes of Ridley Scott’s Alien, “Cobra verde”, the Green Hell, this jungle in the heart of darkness. The human prowls masked or disoriented within this empty theater. Towards the greens, as close as possible to a dizziness.
