At the initiative of Charlotte Pringuey Cessac
Exhibition extended until March 13, 2021
Charlotte Pringuey Cessac invites 18 artists to create a piece related to travel, meeting and transmission. Small enough to fit in the glove compartment, this part must be manipulable to be activated by passengers that Charlotte meets on its way. She makes a journey from one artist’s studio to another in her car and records the reactions of the passengers.
The NOMAD Project aims to create a collaborative and itinerant work. This project is part of a dynamic to talk about art, to discover works of art – or simply to talk – in this intimate place of the car with an unknown and renewed public at each journey. These exchanges are recorded with their agreement.
Solo or collective roaming leads to discovery, meeting and exchange. It is also a freedom of movement – physical movement, movement of thought.
The pieces imagined by the artists are in line with the idea of nomadism, of the map and the territory; of exchange and transmission. The pieces must be manipulable so that passengers can grasp them in a direct way, like a road map or a travel game. Desacralizing the artistic object by manipulation is one of the many ways to make the work accessible to the passenger.
With each trip, a new artist proposal is activated.
At the end of this project, an edition in the form of a boxed set is produced. It includes the intentions of each artist, the photograph of their proposal, the sound and iconographic documents of each journey (the podcasts on USB key).
