One thousand liters
,
Frédérique Nalbandian ,Variations CharlottePringuey-Cessac Exhibition from October 17 to December 5, 2015 Download the press kit , A thousand liters, Frédérique Nalbandian, Frédérique Nalbandian works on a small and large scale in sculpture, evolutionary installation, in situ realization and drawing. She manipulates two substances: soap and plaster, staged by direct and experimental processes, close to improvisation. Together with water, they form the basis of his practice.“A thousand liters” is an evolving sculpture, destined to change over the course of several exhibitions over several years. It is composed of a soap mold, a 1000 liter water tank and a metal retention tank. The volume is worked/modelled by the free and natural erosion of the water, more specifically in its lower part by means of orifices dug for this purpose. Deeper and deeper grooves and other transformations will form during the exhibition creating a new body. This work in progress becomes an experimental space in which the material is active. After a first presentation in 2013 at the Foire de Paris, then last June in the Parc de la Maison Blanche in Marseille, “A Thousand Liters” continues today its spatio-temporal itinerary and its metamorphosis at the Galerie Eva Vautier.,,, Variations, Charlotte Pringuey-Cessac,
I rub, I flatten, I explode, I crush, I push… . Rustling of first plastic actions from which are born sophisticated, intriguing visions that oppose formal principles that have long served to distinguish Abstractions between them and whose artist proves us the primitive nature: the lyric and the geometric, the expression and the concept that are they other than the reflection of the invoice of a world where the organic and the crystalline, the underwater fauna and the right bamboo are always opposed? By reintroducing natural motifs and using poor materials, the artist reminds us that at the heart of abstractions, it is the heart of the world that we hear., Klaus Speidel
