Born in 1971 in Cannes, Natacha Lesueur studied at the Villa Arson in Nice. His first solo exhibition took place in 1996. She was awarded the Ricard prize in 2000 and was resident at the Villa Medici in Rome in 2002-2003. She has exhibited in many countries in Europe, USA, Korea and China. The Charlotte Moser Gallery in Geneva and the Clara Maria Selz Gallery in Dusseldorf represent her work. His works are present in the most prestigious public and private collections. A retrospective of his work was published by the MAMCO in Geneva in 2011. She lives and works in Paris.

Since 93, Natacha Lesueur's work has been essentially photographic. Although photography ultimately determines her relationship with the image, she constructs her pictures like paintings. The photographic image is applied like a varnish to the compositions. Her artistic preoccupations revolve around the body, appearance, pageantry and the intimate relationship between flesh and food. This body, her favorite subject, has been subjected in various series of images to different treatments that combine constraint, staging and masking (between adornment and camouflage). Her series, which follow one another without resembling one another, unfold in infinite variety, where notions such as motif, tour de force, trompe l'oeil and optical traps resonate with one another and form the very unity of the work. Half of his photographic output confronts the body with food (asps as bathing caps (97-98), salmon skin as a hairnet, legs sheathed in pork caul (97-98), mouths whose teeth are seeds of all kinds (00), pieces assembled from food and hair (02-07), etc.).) In other images, women's bodies are marked with pearl imprints (94-96), vision tests (00-01), sleeping men's faces are encrusted with feather marks (04), fingernails are sculpted (97-03), young girls with red varnished teeth burst out laughing (07-08). In the series realized between (2011-14), she explores the figure of actress Carmen Miranda and opens up to the moving image. She uses the body as a surface for inscription, a more or less regular support for the culinary preparations or imprints she deposits on it. A coveted object, the body is parcellized, it is one, it is all bodies.

The photographic image comes to rest like a varnish on the compositions. Her artistic preoccupations are articulated around the body, appearance, pomp and the intimate relationship that flesh and food maintain. This body, subject of predilection was subjected in various series of images to various treatments which raise at the same time of the constraint, the setting in scene, and the mask (between ornament and camouflage).
