The Supports / Surfaces movement, officially founded in France in 1971, puts forward the idea that it is no longer only the subject but also the constituent elements of painting (supports, methods and techniques of realization) that have an importance in the artistic realization. The goal is to try to make painting differently by using new pictorial means.
The Eva Vautier Gallery wishes, through this exhibition, to pay tribute to this group of artists who contributed to new artistic approaches that the following generations continue to explore.
Jean-Pierre Pincemin, “Untitled”, 1973, Mixed media, 250 x 206 cm
