Florian Pugnaire<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Florian Pugnaire pays particular attention to the notion of the studio as a place of practice, but also as a place of \ufb01ction, an in-between where the \ufb01nality of the work is not yet de\ufb01ned and where everything can still be invented or modi\ufb01ed. Through a personal or collaborative practice (with David Raffini), he shows an interest in the process of making and creating, and situates his work in an intermediary space between the studio and the exhibition space.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

He works on the material, time and space contained in the act of creation. In that, he joins Robert Morris, who – in rejection with the greenbergian thought – refused in 1970 to see the work as an atemporal object, completed, and of which one would make an experience only optical: ” I think that, in the past (…), such efforts [le processus de cr\u00e9ation \u2013 ndlr] have been considered as an unsystematized sequence of technical, anecdotal or biographical facts, unrelated to the real “work”, plastered like a timeless and frozen deposit on the flypaper of the culture. 1 “<\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Through a field of cultural references revolving around martial arts(L.E.W.Q, Shadow Boxing, Stunt Lab<\/em>), the automobile(Dyane +, Expanded Crash<\/em>) and the universe of the building site,(In Fine, Meurtri\u00e8res<\/em>), Florian Pugnaire produces constant back and forth between sculpture and video: “These connections between \ufb01lm and sculpture and then between sculpture and narrative, bringing in the time factor and summoning the image, constitute the essential data of Florian Pugnaire’s personal work (the recent Stunt Lab, a combat \ufb01lm shocking the destruction of a set, projected with the compression of the latter at its side, offers a very immediate example of these combinations. 2<\/em> ”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
